New state-of-the-art conference and event space opens on campus

Vancouver, BC; May 13, 2015 – The University of British Columbia (UBC) and alumni UBC announced today the soft opening of the new Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre at UBC. The 41,700 square foot facility offers a state-of-the-art conference and event space in a prime location in the heart of UBC’s Vancouver campus at the corner of University Boulevard and East Mall.

The centre offers a variety of different spaces for event and conference rental ranging from 350 square feet to 4,700 square feet – the largest of which can accommodate up to 400 people standing / 300 seated. The new building was designed to accommodate meetings, conferences, workshops, tradeshows, product launched fundraisers, cocktail receptions, corporate parties, weddings and private special events. “This inspiring facility is a springboard for learning, meeting, celebration and mentorship,” says Jeff Todd, executive director, alumni UBC. “It will be the permanent Vancouver campus home of UBC alumni for life, offering new opportunities for our alumni to engage with each other and their university; gives students a chance to interact with the lifelong community they will be joining; and illuminates the many ways that alumni are powerful contributors to a better world and an exceptional UBC. While built for UBC alumni, the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre’s spectacular event spaces are available to everyone.”
In addition to a large celebration venue and high-tech meeting and event facilities, it includes a centre for innovation, classrooms, social spaces, a café, and a lounge library.
